About University Radiology Vascular and Interventional Center

The premise of vascular and interventional radiology is simple: Whenever possible, treat disease from inside the body, thereby avoiding the risks of surgery and unnecessary trauma to the body.

The first interventional radiology procedure was performed to treat peripheral artery disease in 1964. Since that time, the field has expanded significantly, with innovative approaches to treating vascular disease, cancer, stroke, chronic pain and many other diseases and health conditions. Today, patients throughout the world benefit from alternatives to surgery that are comparably effective but with much lower risk, a shorter recovery and no hospital stay required.
